CAMP CONSTRUCTION
NKW Construction specializes in developing mining accommodation facilities for mining townships and medium to large corporate enterprises throughout Papua New Guinea. We utilize both locally sourced and internationally procured materials and labor to ensure quality and efficiency.
REHABILITATION, UPGRADING, AND SEALING OF ROADS AND RELATED STRUCTURES
NKW Construction possesses extensive experience in various road construction projects, encompassing rehabilitation, major pavement reconstruction, and two-coat sealing of both rural and urban roads. Our portfolio includes residential areas, feeder roads, main highways, as well as industrial developments, container terminals, ports, and airports. We also provide alternative design solutions that result in significant cost savings for our clients.
RESIDENTIAL, INDUSTRIAL, AND COMMERCIAL PROJECTS

NADZAB AIRPORT REDEVELOPMENT
In the dynamic landscape of infrastructure development, the Nadzab Airport Redevelopment Projects stand out as a testament to innovation and precision in construction. This ambitious venture, with a total value of PGK 37 million, encompasses several critical components designed to enhance operational efficiency and accommodate the needs of diverse personnel.

This project focused on establishing a state-of-the-art modular camp to house 68 personnel. The facility comes fully equipped with essential amenities such as a gym, laundry facilities, and a mess area, ensuring a comfortable living environment. Key construction activities included:
- Preparing building pad footings and installing modular unit.
- Constructing verandas and performing electrical and plumbing installations.
- Connecting the camp to the main sewage system and equipping all spaces with air conditioning.

Designed to accommodate 250 personnel, this expansive facility includes a canteen, kitchen, and essential utilities like a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and Sewage Treatment Plant (WWTP). Accommodation options range from executive units to dormitories. Construction highlights include:
- Installing extensive modular units and constructing roofed verandas.
- Setting up WTP and WWTP systems.
- Comprehensive cabling, plumbing, and air conditioning installations ensure seamless operations

This project involved constructing two double-story duplexes, each offering a blend of comfort and functionality. The duplexes feature:
- Timber framing with concrete foundation work
- Thoughtfully designed interiors with high-quality finishes.
- Comprehensive electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems integrated into the living spaces.
Engineers Accommodation – 10 x 3 Bedroom Stand-Alone Houses (Value: PGK 8.4 Million)
These high-set timber-framed houses are crafted to provide spacious living for engineers, featuring three bedrooms, living areas, and modern amenities. The construction process was marked by:
- Extensive excavation and timber framing.
- Durable exterior cladding and sophisticated interior finishes.
- Complete integration of essential services and landscaping.

A modern steel-framed structure, this office building is designed to foster productivity and collaboration. It encompasses offices, a conference room, and support facilities. Construction specifics include:
- Robust steel framing and concrete foundation work.
- Versatile interior spaces with advanced electrical and HVAC systems.
- Attention to detail in finishes and landscaping enhances the building’s functionality and aesthetic appeal.

DEPT. OF HEALTH IOSLATION CENTER
Design and Construction of the Department of Health Isolation Centre at 11 Mile – Lae (PGK 5.8 million)
This project encompassed the establishment of a fully enclosed accommodation facility with 32 rooms, a common hall, treatment and testing areas, a doctor’s office, a server room, ablution facilities, and separate sleeping quarters for nursing staff comprising eight rooms.
The construction process involved the following steps:
- Creating pad footings
- Installing modules and fully enclosing walls with steel framing and ribbed panel sheeting
- Erecting a gable roof to cover the entire facility
- Executing cabling and electrical connections from mains and generators to the building
- Performing piping work and water reticulation throughout the facility
- Connecting waste pipes from the building to the sewage system
- Installing, testing, and commissioning generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), switchboards, and sub-boards
- Installing air conditioning units in each room within the facility
80 MAN CAMP ON HIDDEN VALLEY MINE
Design and Construction of an 80-Man Camp for Harmony at 11 Mile – Lae (PGK 7.5 million)
This project involved the construction of modular accommodation units designed for 80 personnel working with Harmony Goldfield Limited. The construction activities included:
- Creating pad footings
- Installing accommodation modules
- Building walkways
- Executing cabling and electrical connections from existing mains and generators to the facility
- Performing piping work and water reticulation throughout the site
- Connecting waste pipes from the building to the existing sewage system
- Installing air conditioning units in each room of the facility
160 MAN CAMP EXTERSION K92 MINING
“Design and Supply of 160-Man Camp Extension for K92 Mining. K1.8 million”
In the dynamic world of mining infrastructure, we are proud to have been entrusted with the design and supply of a 160-man camp extension for K92 Mining, valued at K1,800,000. Our expertise encompassed the architectural design of the camp layout, as well as the intricate planning of electrical, water, and wastewater services, ensuring a robust foundation for the project’s success.
Our commitment to quality and innovation led us to develop comprehensive plans and designs, which were intended to guide the installation phase. As part of our scope, we also facilitated the supply of accommodation units, crafted to meet the highest standards of comfort and functionality.
Regrettably, despite our initial agreement to oversee the installation, unforeseen circumstances arose. Our designs and plans were utilized without our further involvement, as K92 Mining opted to independently engage our subcontractors for the installation process. While this was unexpected, we remain steadfast in our dedication to delivering excellence and fostering collaborative relationships in all our future endeavors.
We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the growth of K92 Mining and are confident that the quality of our designs will serve them well. OTHER PROJECTS
IGAM BARRACKS
Sports Field Changing Room
This refurbishment project is aimed at revitalizing the sports field changing rooms by replacing all electrical outlets, switches, toilets, urinals, doors, windows, and repairing any deteriorated walls. To enhance the building’s aesthetic and functional quality, a fresh coat of paint will be applied to the roof, interior, and exterior walls.
Maintenance of the Q-Store
The Q-Store will undergo necessary wall repairs, and its existing roofing sheets will be repainted to improve durability and appearance.
ELA MOTORS – LAE
Ela Motors Boat Factory Roof Extension (Value: PGK 350,000)
This project involves extending the current boat factory by 16 meters in length and 8 meters in width using robust steel structures. The existing structure lacks wall coverage, and this initiative will introduce both roof and wall protection. Key structural elements include primary columns made from 75mm x 75mm SHS, supported by roof rafters and beams crafted from 100mm PFC and 100mm C- purlins. The roof will be completed with corrugated vinculums roofing sheets to ensure longevity and reliability.
ROAD CONSTRUCTION
Patep—Timini 14 KM Road Construction (Value: PGK 50 Million)
In February 2022, NKW Holdings was awarded four Certificates of Inception (COI) Contracts by the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, through the Department of Works. This critical project focuses on the emergency repairs and upgrades of the road from Timini Bridge to Patep Bridge along the Wau Highway in Morobe Province.
The primary objective is the stabilization and sealing of the pavement from Timini Bridge to Bundun, addressing hazardous road conditions that compromise public safety. The deteriorating road conditions have exacerbated law-and-order issues and hindered socio-economic activities in the province. Due to the urgency, the Works Department, in collaboration with the National Government under the Pandemic Act, has engaged NKW Holdings Ltd—a qualified contractor strategically located near the site—to expedite rehabilitation efforts.
This project is vital for community needs and will bolster confidence among key stakeholders, including Morobe Mines, PNG Forest Products, Zenag, and local coffee and cocoa farmers. The comprehensive scope of work includes:
- Clearing vegetation and felling trees along the designated right- of-way
- Executing bulk earthworks as per contract specifications
- Supplying engineered fill material approved by the Certifying Engineer
- Performing pavement work on identified critical sections
- Installing culverts and drainage systems according to Department of Works standards
- Constructing new drainage systems for efficient water runoff management
- Conducting pavement marking as detailed in the Bill of Quantities
- Demobilizing by clearing introduced foreign materials and restoring site conditions
SUBCONTRACTORS
NKW Construction maintains rigorous prequalification criteria for all subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring they have the necessary systems and procedures to meet NKW Construction’s quality and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards. Prequalification is mandatory before any on-site work begins, and regular audits are conducted to ensure continuous compliance with these high standards.
