NKW Group proudly established NKW Fresh in September 2014 as an integral division of our organization, rooted deeply as a leading Landowner Company in Morobe. This strategic move underscores our unwavering commitment to fostering and developing business assets to benefit our Landowner Shareholders over the long term.
Our approach is both innovative and inclusive—we source fresh produce from local smallholder vegetable farmers, with 40% of our producers being women and girls, thus promoting gender equality and economic empowerment. By utilizing advanced cold storage facilities in both Wau and Lae, we have pioneered a high-performance Cold Supply Chain that ensures the efficient distribution of fresh produce across Papua New Guinea.

By eliminating intermediaries, we ensure that farmers receive a fair return for their hard work while maintaining superior control over the quality and variety of produce available. Our team of experienced field extension officers works closely with farmers from the initial stages of cultivation all the way through to harvest, ensuring that each step meets the highest standards. We are committed to sustainable farming practices and provide essential resources such as pesticides and seeds, coupled with hands-on training to maximize crop yield and quality. Our support extends beyond farming techniques; we assist farmers in securing start-up capital through partnerships with financial institutions and offer financial training through NGO programs, laying a solid foundation for their business success.
Understanding the logistical challenges farmers face, NKW Fresh offers seamless transportation services, moving fresh produce efficiently from farms to our depot and onward to our clients across Papua New Guinea. This ensures that the produce remains fresh and reaches its destination in optimal condition.

Supply Capacity
Our operations are designed to provide a robust and efficient framework that ensures seamless logistics and storage management of fresh produce. Here’s a comprehensive breakdown of our capabilities:
- Receiving Capacity: We are fully equipped to handle incoming fresh produce efficiently, with a daily receiving capacity ranging from 3 to 5 tons. This capability allows us to manage and process incoming fresh produce with agility and precision, ensuring safety and quality are never compromised.
- Average Weekly Shipping: On average, our facility dispatches two refrigerated containers (reefers) each week, with a total shipping capacity of 25 tons. This ensures timely and effective delivery, meeting the demands of our clients in various centers across PNG. Our strategic shipping operations guarantee that fresh produce reaches its destination in optimal condition.
- Storage Capacity: Our facility can accommodate up to 15 tons of fresh produce daily. This capacity ensures that we maintain a steady inventory flow and are well-prepared to meet both current and future needs, supporting a consistent and reliable supply chain.

JOINT VENTURE PROJECTS
Ungai Bena District, Eastern Highlands
In a significant stride towards bolstering agriculture and enhancing market access for local farmers, NKW Fresh Produce has partnered with the Ungai Bena District, Eastern Highland Province, PNG. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlines a collaborative effort to improve the farming of fresh produce and align with industrial standards, while actively creating market opportunities for farmers in the region.
As part of this initiative, NKW Fresh has established a modern warehouse equipped with a backup generator and a chiller, ensuring a robust cool chain process for fresh produce. This infrastructure supports the commitment made by the Honourable Member for Ungai Bena District to foster agricultural growth and sustainability.

Since the initial verbal agreement in February 2024, NKW Fresh has made substantial progress, purchasing over 177 tons of fresh produce valued at K544,000.00. This achievement reflects the fruitful collaboration between local farmers and NKW Fresh, underscoring the importance of strategic partnerships in driving economic growth.
Future Ventures
Looking ahead, NKW Fresh is eager to expand its collaborative efforts by partnering with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) through the Field Extension Officer (FEO) Program. This partnership aims to diversify and increase the supply of fresh produce farms in the region, further strengthening the agricultural landscape and providing broader opportunities for local farmers.
With this MOU and ongoing partnerships, NKW Fresh is dedicated to empowering farmers, enhancing produce quality, and fostering sustainable agricultural practices in the Eastern Highlands.
